This primary development of a Solar Shuttle for its use within the Savitribai Phule Pune University campus. This project aims at providing pollution free shuttle service to everyone travelling inside the University campus. A round trip of around 3.6 Km is made by shuttle covering different departments. The Design Innovation Centre team designed this Electric-solar vehicle, which is capable of travelling 50 km in one charge. This is a six-plus one-seated vehicle. The solar shuttle is a battery operated Electric vehicle with on board solar charging facility. A 300 Watt solar panel is mounted on this shuttle. On board charging of batteries through this panel when vehicle is in use helps it to cover some more distance during rush hours. Also a 1.2 KW solar charging station is developed as a docking station for charging batteries on the parking site. Two extra set of batteries are made readily available for installing on shuttle when its on board battery drains out. This saves time and improves service quality.
